Department celebrations

It was informed last week that we interns were in charge of the Christmas celebrations at the Department of Community medicine. We were really skeptical because there were only 9 of us here(others were  posted in Kumily and Mundakayam). And a programme arranged by the 9 of us for a crowd of nearly 60 people! Seemed impossible. And hence the interest put forth by my friends were initially limited. But by God’s grace, our Christmas spirit was not killed and we started planning. Initially we seemed to reach no where. But then somehow everyone agreed to get involved. And we spent the evening before the programme painting Christmas cards and practising the carols together. We became little children who were given painting books! And after little  of planning, the event arrived. We were treated with tasty biriyani for lunch and then the Christmas programme commenced. The whole department was equally involved. And suddenly our games were a great hit! We watched as our professors, nursing personnel and field staff played with so much enthusiasm and joy. Neither their age nor their position seemed to matter. They were all enjoying. And guess who were the ones most surprised and happy! The 9 of us were thrilled beyond words and it was a lesson that we could actually arrange programmes and pull it off. We also had a good time working together- with paint, payasam and carols. Thank God for this opportunity!

Nothing but a recipient of Christ's grace. I am a young doctor and I use this space to find meaning in the bedlam of my thoughts. My blog might resonate with the screams of a young adult finding her place in life, the stench of hospital corridors, images of the many people who intrigue me and the lessons my Saviour Jesus teaches me.
