Separation

“She has left me all alone…after 50 years..now I’m all alone…”, I watched helplessly as this old man wailed in agony over the loss of his beloved wife. She had succumbed to a cardiac arrest that morning in our hospital. And the news was too much for her man to bear.

Farewells are painful; Eternal farewells, unbearable. A person you loved. Someone you shared your dreams with. Together through the good and bad tidings, having seen you at your best and your worst…to be separated from someone like that would definitely be painful. And who can heal that pain? No  balm for that loss. The only reassurance would probably be that their eternity is in safe hands.

This incident touched me deeply. It also increased my faith in the institution of marriage. How two souls can be so closely linked for so long…it amazes me! Probably the memories of the good times may act as the life jacket when  that old man wades through the turbulent waters of loss.

Nothing but a recipient of Christ's grace. I am a young doctor and I use this space to find meaning in the bedlam of my thoughts. My blog might resonate with the screams of a young adult finding her place in life, the stench of hospital corridors, images of the many people who intrigue me and the lessons my Saviour Jesus teaches me.
